Leonardo"s Notebook by Mattheus Mei

I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.

When a cold hits, it hits hard

Well, is it really that time of year again (as if there really is a time of year for it) - for the cold & flu season? No bother, fact remains that as of this evening, as everyone else is watching to see if Tropical Depression 8 becomes Tropical Storm Ingrid, my symptoms have developed into a full fledged cold.

Woke up this morning with a little stuffiness after suffering through small throat soarness the past couple of days, and by this afternoon my head was hurting, I couldn't breath, I was draining (none of the nasty post nasal drip thankfully) and I just wanted to crawl in bed.

Why did it hit me like a ton of bricks, did I contract a particularly virulent strain of the Rhino kind? As I take stock of how people around me progress with their particular pathologies , I'm inclined to believe not. Back way back when Mattheus Mei was but a young mei, I used to get strep throat at least 4 times a year, and every time the old bonesaw would give me a -cillin drug. Well a couple'a'few back, as they say, my body had enough and developed SJS, not a particularly fun disorder really. Lasting effects can include chronic fatigue syndrome and according to a couple of my doctors a depressed Immune System.

So as I nurse myself back to healthiness please be on the look out for that sneaky little thing called the Cold and it's more frightening cousin - the Flu, and remember to wash your hands.
