It's happening....

A few weeks back our friend Waldo pointed out over at L'Espere that the good folks in South Carolina, staunch supporters of traditional family values, were very slack this year in their efforts to stand up to the homosexualists of California - thankfully it didn't matter as religious groups from out west including the Mormon Church (who had been planning the coup for 11 years with the RCC), were able to spend millions upon millions of dollars to win by 4%.

He then informed us of the fabulous efforts of the American Family Association to inform all of us about the homosexualists plan to invade our communities and take over (Praise JESUS! that their founder had the where-withall to support our very own Katon Dawson for RNC-Chair! He knows how Godly SC, and Katon are), with a handy dandy DVD:

"That's why they're so into gardening. They don't recruit anymore- they grow pods in the basement."

Residents of the small Arkansas town of Eureka Springs noticed the homosexual community was growing. But they felt no threat. They went about their business as usual. Then, one day, they woke up to discover that their beloved Eureka Springs, a community which was known far and wide as a center for Christian entertainment--had changed. The City Council had been taken over by a small group of homosexual activists.

The Eureka Springs they knew is gone. It is now a national hub for homosexuals. Eureka Springs is becoming the San Francisco of Arkansas. The story of how this happened is told in the new AFA DVD “They’re Coming To Your Town.”

Well, South Carolina, we're obviously now no better than Gomorah - especially since our neighbor to the North - the state of North Carolina, and more specifically the town of Carrboro is becoming Sodom.

Carrboro must not have gotten the AFA's video and included SBC study packet on what to do when you meet 'a gay.' Because now they're no better than that hot bed of homosexuality Eureka Springs, Arkansas and the center of hell itself San Francisco. According to QNotes the city has passed a resolution, the second of its kind in 2 years, in support of the homosexualists agenda and their notions of 'gay marriage.'

I'm sure the folks in Greenville are glad, especially now, that we had that 2nd ammendment fire sale, although they should be safe from the sissies thanks to our first line of defense - thank you Comptroller General Ekstrom!

Wachovia to take over Morgan Stanley: the South rising again?

Charlotte, America's queen city - the largest city in the Southeast - is fast becoming the seat of America's new financial markets. It is, according to Wikipedia, the 2nd largest financial center in America next to New York.

And now two days after Bank of America deigned take control of Merrill Lynch, Charlotte's second largest banking institution, Wachovia, is rumoured to be taking over Morgan Stanley. According to the NYTimes the descendant heir of the empire of JP Morgan who like other investment banks got caught with their pants down after the subprime crisis.

Wachovia though has suffered as well, especially as a result of their previous acquisition of Golden West which opened up their exposure in a major way. Earlier in the summer the Charlotte based bank announced a series of deep cuts in jobs because of their losses. But under the direction of their new CEO Robert Steel who has been billed as an honest broker and so far has not disappointed on that front.

Watch out Wall Street -- it appears Tryon Street in Charlotte is giving you a run for the money, no pun intended.

Hugh McColl is probably wringing his hands

Hugh McColl, a South Carolina native and resident (Bennetsville, SC), the iron-fisted CEO who crafted juggernaut that is Bank of America is either wringing his hands in nervousness or joy.

The Wall Street Journal has announced that BOA has reached a deal to purchase Merrill Lynch.

CEO Ken Lewis took over BOA when McColl retired in 2001. In the years that have passed he's not wavered far from McColl's war like approach to finance though he has become more cavalier in efforts. As the WSJ article says:

The integration of Merrill, known for its proud, and sometimes testy, brokerage force, could turn out to be the biggest test of Mr. Lewis's career. Typically, the bank has made one big deal and then taken time to carefully merge the two institutions. But in recent years, acquisitions have come at a furious pace. In 2004, the bank bought FleetBoston Financial Corp. A year later, the bank agreed to buy MBNA Corp., the credit-card firm. In 2007, Bank of America bought Chicago's LaSalle Bank as part of the break-up of Dutch bank ABN-Amro Holding NV. Then came this year's purchase of Countrywide.

With great risk comes the possibility of great reward. As the article suggests, the merger would create an institution that has it's hands in the cookie jar of almost every aspect of the financial system, "from credit cards and auto loans to bond and stock underwriting, merger advice and wealth management," not to mention insurance services, mortgages, adn the other traditional banking services.

Unlike Bear Sterns which, retrospectively, the government should have left laissez-fair but didn't, and now Lehman Brothers which they are, the Charlotte based financial giant is moving percipitously further into the realm of "to big to allow to fail," much like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the quasi-public-private mortgage giants that were nationalized.

The Charlotte Observer and Howard Dean on Fox Sunday

The Charlotte Observer endorses Obama, read it! Here's an excerpt:

Yet we're troubled by, to cite a few examples, these aspects of her presidential campaign:• Many of her supporters seem intent on depicting Sen. Obama as the Jesse Jackson of 2008, a leader who appeals to an ethnic minority but not to the broader electorate needed to win.

• She sometimes exaggerates her influence and experiences, as when she claimed she "helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland" and said she ducked under sniper fire in Bosnia.

• Florida and Michigan were stripped of national convention delegates after breaking party rules by scheduling their primaries too early. The candidates didn't campaign in them. Yet after Sen. Clinton did well in those states, she pushed to change the rules and count the votes. That's a cynical, self-serving effort to corrupt the selection process.

• Her tendency to tell voters what they want to hear is disturbing. Her proposal to suspend the federal tax on gasoline this summer is campaign gimmickry, not leadership. Her assertion that she was a critic of NAFTA from the beginning is simply unbelievable. The record shows she was an ardent advocate of the trade deal.

Some Democrats accept that as just the way the political game always has been played. Perhaps it is. But is that the best Americans can expect? We think not.

And Howard Dean just said on Fox News Sunday that for the Republican Party to associate The Rev. Wright with local candidates (i.e. the East Cheraw Dog Catcher) is patent race baiting and is of the stuff Willy Horton is made of. John McCain said the same thing when the NC GOP tried alleging the same connections with North Carolina Democrats -- the parties did nothing and McCain let it go. Just goes to show that Grand Ole Party has no interest in balming the wounds of the American People and is more interested in hate mongering and fear mongering than the Democrats (unless you're a Clintonista Ad Exec).
