Here at the notebook, we like trains. We're a fan of mass transit, especially smart mass transit. Whether it's the state considering train routes for economic purposes of expediting the transport of raw materials on the coast to the manufacturers in the upstate and the reverse trip for finished goods, or smart needed transit in Charleston between Berkley Dorchester and Charleston counties (it's a big dense metro area folks) or the proposed train route between Atlanta and DC. We like it! We like mass transit and we like trains.
So we're happy that there's lots of money in the Stimulus Package to develop these avenues of transport - especially in regards to high speed rail. And what does that mean for us in Columbia SC? Railroad jobs - check out this map.
This is a map of designated high speed rail corridors and two pass through South Carolina. The North South route that passes through Columbia and that line of track that goes through Greenville. Here's hoping!
