Leonardo"s Notebook by Mattheus Mei

I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.

Quote of the day: Abject failure of logic

The coalition of religious communities and citizens who supported Proposition 8 wanted to preserve "the bedrock institution of marriage" between a man and a woman, said Cardinal Roger Mahoney, the Catholic [A]rchbishop of Los Angeles.

"Proposition 8 is not against any group in our society," Mahoney said in a written statement.

Proposition 8 is not against any group in our society? It's a little hard to believe.

Biggest irony of the prop 8 results is that most funding came from the Mormon Church directly (not through affiliated organizations such as the Knights of Columbus), which is causing many to question openly if such direct action should cause revokation of tax exempt status. This is also a group who left the United States in the 1800's for "Desert" in major part because of their beliefs of marriage.

The other is African-Americans who only 40 years ago couldn't intermarry with whites because it was against Biblical command and societal norms and who were being oppressed by a white majority as being separate but equal.

Along with the passage of Prop 8 - you had an parental notification proposition failed to pass, BUT, Californians overwhelmingly supported animal rights for Chickens to have larger cages before being killed for food processing.
Bizzare what happens when folks on both sides of the "Pro Life" divide would sabatoge one another.

We've got a long way to go...
