Today is an auspicious day of convergence in the history of our great country. On this day 45 years ago a man shared his dream with the nation - a dream of peace and prosperity, equality and freedom. And forty years ago this year a man a fiery prophet for change and peace and for our better natures shared a improbable vision that was spurned by his peers. And in that year, 1968, both he and the dreamer were martyred on the fires of freedoms pyre at the hands of agents of intolerance and ignorance. Tonight as we celebrate the nomination of Barack Obama we remember those who have gone before us and garner strength and resolve to go forward and look with clear eyes on the future, with faith in our God, hope for our country and love for our fellow man as a dream is realized and a prophecy fulfilled.
