Leonardo"s Notebook by Mattheus Mei

I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.

Rudy Giuliani. There's only three things he mentions in a sentence -- a noun, a verb, and 9/11. There's nothing else! There's nothing else!

John McCain is fast becoming the Rudy Giuliani of the Presidential election. As TPM points out the McCain campaign has relied on his POW experience as an excuse for gaffes, mishaps, and cheating.

The McCain camp response to the housing gaffe,
"This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years -- in prison,"

The McCain camp response to the Sturgis pastoral outcry of his 'Ms Buffalo Chips mishap,
"know that John McCain's faith and character were tested and forged in ways few can fathom."

The McCain camp response to his possible (probable) cheating at the Rick Warren Civility Forum
“The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous,”

The campaign is using it as a crutch more and more. And each time they do it hearkens back to a question of judgement and stability raised by one of McCain's fellow Academy men, naval officer, and POW from the same prison, "I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate."
