The State Newspaper reports that South Carolina is the number one state in the union... for on the job deaths for Hispanic workers. The article cites one major factor possibly being the language barrier.
Most of the deaths occurred in the construction sector of the market and were associated with falls.
This on the heels of Governor Mark Sanford signing immigration reform legislation, considered by many to be the hallmark of the South Carolina Legislative Session.
South Carolina has led the nation in the past five years in regards to destination of immigrating Hispanics. Hispanics make up approximately 3% of South Carolina's labour force according to The State.
