Gashwin was encouraging everyone to watch the Colbert Report on Thursday night to see Anglican NT Wright's interview on his new book Surprised by Hope, but earlier in the show was a great sketch on the slip in prominence of an American classic - the cookie. And who does Stephen hold responsible? None other than Cookie Monster himself!
But the monster has plenty of nuggets of wisdom to explain his movement away from cookies to things like fruits and vegetables saying "Me have crazy time in the 70's and 80's. Me Like Robert Downey Jr. of cookies." He even disputed Stephen on his cookie pride by insisting that he didn't have to wear a cookie lapel pin.
Elmo even showed up but stayed in their fuel efficient car -- powered on imagination!
